Data Traffic Dynamics and Congestion on a Single Link

چکیده

The dynamics of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) traffic over Ethernet between two computers are analyzed using nonlinear dynamics which shows that there are two clear regimes in the data flow: free flow and congested. The two most important variables affecting this are the packet size and packet flow rate. However, this transition is due to a transcritical bifurcation rather than phase transition in models such as in vehicle traffic or theorized large-scale computer network congestion. It is hoped this model will help lay the groundwork for further research on the dynamics of networks, especially computer networks.

Literature Review of Traffic Assignment: Static and Dynamic

Rapid urban growth is resulting into increase in travel demand and private vehicle ownership in urban areas. In the present scenario the existing infrastructure has failed to match the demand that leads to traffic congestion, vehicular pollution and accidents. With traffic congestion augmentation on the road, delay of commuters has increased and reliability of road network has decreased. Four s...

Congestion Control Approaches Applied to Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a specific category of wireless ad-hoc networks where their performance is highly affected by application, life time, storage capacity, processing power, topology changes, the communication medium and bandwidth. These limitations necessitate an effective data transport control in WSNs considering quality of service, energy efficiency, and congestion control. ...

Analyzing Stop Time Phase Leading to Congestion Based on Drivers’ Behavior Patterns

Traffic oscillation, stop and go traffic, is created by different reasons such as: sudden speed drop of leader vehicle. Stop and go traffic commonly is observed in congested freeways results in traffic oscillation. Many theories had been presented to define congestion traffic based on laws of physics such as: thermodynamics and fluid. But, these theories could not explain the complexity of driv...

Aggregate Rate Control for Efficient and Practical Congestion Management

Active queue management (AQM) promises to overcome the current limitations of end-host only congestion control by providing congestion feedback information before router queue buffers overflow. Many emerging AQM approaches use proportional integral (PI) controller design because of PI’s simplicity and effectiveness. Unfortunately, these promising AQMs still face a critical deployment challenge ...
